wasps behind shutters

0

I get wasps behind my shutters and would like to eliminate this problem. What would be the easiest solution? These are just a decorative shutters and easily removed.

You’ve got a couple of options. The first would be to leave the shutters in place and puff DRIONE DUST behind every one. Drione is highly repellent to wasps and they will stay off treated surfaces. Simply puff 2-4 times behind the sides, top and bottom and the light floating Drione Dust will promptly kill any nesting. It will also sit on the shutter as well as the side of the home providing long lasting residual.

In protected areas, treatments can last 6-12 months but outside, its hard to say. I’ve seen these areas tend to stay dry and if that happens, you could easily get 3-6 months of good protection from one treatment. So I would start with Drione since its easy to use, fast working and long lasting. And you can treat without having to take the shutters down.

Now if there are shutters too high to reach from the ground, get a DUSTICK to help. It will let you dust up over 25 feet and can help to reach second level shutters, cracks and crevices.

The second option may be needed if the Drione won’t last 2-3 months. You’ll know because if the wasps come back in 2 months or less, it may be a better plan to spray.

And the best spray we have for them is the CYPERMETHRIN. Mix 1 oz per of concentrate per gallon of water and apply 1 gallon for every 500 sq/ft of surface area.

Spraying might seem like the “easier” thing to do compared to using Drione but having used both for over 20 years, I’d choose the Drione over the spray every time. It just does a better job of moving about behind shutters compared to spray. And with the spray, if you can’t hit the surfaces directly, it can fail. But it does have its place and for wide open surfaces, a good option.
